AUCKLAND, Today: To celebrate 10 years of playing great music, MediaWorks’ The Sound teamed up with Universal Music NZ to create the ultimate album for music lovers – a genuine limited-edition 33⅓ r.p.m.* vinyl.
The campaign was created in house at MediaWorks:
The Sound Collector’s Edition was manufactured in the Czech Republic by GZ Media for Universal Music NZ and MediaWorks.
The Sound content director Vaughan Hobbs said: “Most of the music we play on The Sound was originally released on vinyl, so what better way to celebrate our 10th birthday than releasing our very own collector’s edition album on vinyl?
“It’s been a dream to do this for many years.”
“The 33⅓ r.p.m. disc features eight classic tracks from Queen, Free, Dragon, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzy, Iggy Pop and The Who.”
In support of the album’s release, The Sound kicked off a marketing campaign on Monday which included out-of-home and a TV commercial.
The Sound marketing manager Lee Gilmour said: “We were thrilled to develop a campaign that celebrates our listeners’ favourite music and that gives them a physical piece of The Sound to enjoy in their record collection for many years to come.”
“The Sound is delighted to announce that as of this morning, all 500 individually numbered copies of The Sound LP were sold out, proving that music lovers – and Sound listeners – still appreciate their music at the speed of 33⅓.”
