New Zealand’s most iconic fashion and lifestyle title, Fashion Quarterly, has been recognised for its refreshed direction under new owners Parkside Media.
The recent Webstar Magazine Media Awards saw Fashion Quarterly take home two wins for 2021 — Best Relaunch and Best Cover. After the title made an abrupt departure from newsstands when previous publisher Bauer Media closed in early 2020, Parkside Media welcomed the opportunity to relaunch the iconic national brand. Appointing a new team led by Editor Nicole Saunders, the goal was to set a new standard of excellence for the iconic fashion brand, in the process modernising Fashion Quarterly to become reflective of a more inclusive fashion community, and in the process extending its appeal to a broader audience.
With Parkside Media’s team doing just that — via incorporating diverse voices and talent, adherence to a commitment to minimise use of retouching, and a revamped digital offering that champions the new brand values — the quarterly title has gone from strength to strength since its relaunch in November 2020.
“To have industry recognition of Fashion Quarterly’s successes only two issues into the relaunch phase is something we’re very proud of,” says Parkside Media Business Director Michael White.
“With relaunch sales up approximately 30 percent year on year, and an audited 46 percent category share, we’ve gained the confidence of pre-existing advertisers, added new ones, and clearly positioned FQ as the country’s preeminent fashion media brand.”
Fashion Quarterly’s Autumn issue is set to hit newsstands on March 21.
