Fire and Emergency New Zealand appoints Motion Sickness as lead agency

Following a competitive pitch, Fire and Emergency New Zealand has appointed Motion Sickness as its lead Creative Agency.

After more than 7 years with the incumbent (FCB New Zealand), Fire and Emergency New Zealand placed their creative and production services up for pitch.

Raewyn Bleakley, Deputy Chief Executive, Office of Chief Executive, Fire and Emergency says: “Through this pitch process we were looking for a creative partner who could help us create change among our most ‘at risk’ and hardest to shift audiences.

“Motion Sickness has definitely shown it can deliver innovative and attention-grabbing work that drives change – we’re looking forward to having the team’s fresh ideas and strategic nous on our account.”

On the new appointment, Motion Sickness Head of Strategy Hilary Ngan Kee says: “We have a huge amount of respect for the work that Fire and Emergency New Zealand do. Many of the communications problems they’re looking to solve require a consistent change in behaviour – always a juicy strategic challenge. We’re ready to throw everything at it. We’re looking forward to working collaboratively with the Fire and Emergency team to produce some fresh and effective creative ideas that will make a real difference.”

Being appointed to the Fire and Emergency New Zealand account marks the first big government agency win for Motion Sickness, after being added to the All of Government panels in November last year.

It is also the second competitive pitch win for the agency in the last 6 months, Motion Sickness was appointed lead creative agency for Frank Energy (formerly known as Energy Online) last year.

“More lead agency positions were always part of our strategic vision for Motion Sickness – to partner with some of the most ambitious brands in New Zealand, to create some of the world’s best work,” says Alex McManus, Business Director at Motion Sickness.

“We have added some very talented humans to the team over the past 12 months, which helps us to ‘stay ahead’ of our growth. As well as great advertising, they’re genuinely passionate about making a difference, and are very keen to get stuck in to work with the team at Fire and Emergency New Zealand.”
