MediaWorks is celebrating five years of its digital streaming app rova by adding six brand new Today FM podcasts to the platform and offering further opportunities for advertisers.
The only Kiwi owned and locally developed podcast app, which launched in 2017, has now been downloaded almost 1 million times*.
MediaWorks Head of Digital Audio, rova & Podcasts Richie Culph says it’s fantastic to celebrate five years of rova.
“Digital audiences continue to dramatically grow and we’ve also seen strong year on year engagement with both the rova platform and MediaWorks’ digital audio content. 2022 is going to be bigger and better for MediaWorks as we accelerate our digital audio strategy by significantly enhancing rova’s user experience, expanding MediaWorks’ content offering and creating new and exciting advertising opportunities.”
Every weekday, starting today, rova will be releasing one new podcast daily from the team at Today FM including:
- 1:59PM with Rachel Smalley
- The Core with Wilhelmina Shrimpton
- What You Don’t Know About… with Carly Flynn
- Polly With The Prisoners with Polly Gillespie
- The Wilderness with Lloyd Burr
- Kiwi As with Graeme Hill and Justin Brown
Director of News & Talk Dallas Gurney says: “Today FM proudly sports some of the best and brightest names when it comes to news, entertainment and investigative journalism. Today FM was always going to not only be a radio brand but also a brand focused on multi platform storytelling, and we’re delighted to be able to launch the network on Monday 21 March with an offering of exciting, engaging, educating – and at times confronting, podcasts from some of our team.”
Also to coincide with rova’s birthday, MediaWorks has announced it’s now offering dynamic ad insertion on the platform.
MediaWorks Head of Digital Partnerships Lisa Ison says: “Digital ad insertion allows advertisers to swap out ad creatives in live stream, Music+ and podcast content on rova. By doing this we can leverage audience insights that are available and offer a wider level of targeting. The benefits of this level of targeting is that we’re able to deliver more relevant ads on an impression basis.”
This birthday also marks five years of rova partnering with Novus which has been onboard since it started.
Novus Director Mike James says: “With how audiences consume media always evolving we’ve found rova a great platform to engage with a younger target market. Our sponsorship has delivered valuable brand awareness for Novus over the past 5 years and we’re excited to continue to be part of its journey as it grows and evolves.”
