AUCKLAND, Today: M+AD will join those in New Zealand and Australia in observing Anzac Day on Monday. We’ll be back Tuesday.
The holiday marks the anniversary of the first key military action fought by Australian & New Zealand forces during the First World War, where 60,000 Australians and 18,000 New Zealanders died in action.
Anzac stands for Australian & New Zealand Army Corps. The troops in those forces became known as Anzacs, and the pride in the name endures to this day.
