AUCKLAND, Today: Film production company Reel Factory is celebrating a successful 2022 – despite the difficulties of the economy and the pandemic. “What a crazy second half of 2022!” says managing director Dan Watkins in a company newsletter widely distributed yesterday.

“We were lucky enough to work on a load of awesome commercials, produce two TV series, confirm plans for our dream office & studio build, expand our directors roster and production teams, invest in exciting new tools of our trade and most importantly, have a whole lot of fun along the way,” Watkins said.

“Our full crew are back, refreshed and ready for another year of bringing epic creative to life with our agency and client partners.

Recent TV work included ads for Air NZ (directed by Josh Frizzell), WingStreet (James Soloman), Tourism NZ (James Anderson), Sea-Doo, Burger King, Pizza Hut (James Solomon), and FIFA Women’s World Cup (Laura Sargisson).

“Capable of horizontal and vertical movement at speeds up to four metres per second across nine metres of track and with 180-degrees of rotation in 1-second, the Bolt can keep up with almost anything.”

Pride of place at the company’s base in Rosedale is The Bolt Cinebot motion control robot system.

Watkins: “This is the only one of its kind in New Zealand. Whether you’re after high-speed, precision or repeatable moves, our Bolt Cinebot is the perfect tool for the job.

“The Bolt brings to life an entirely new perspective of filming applicable to commercials, table top work, film or television.

“Capable of horizontal and vertical movement at speeds up to four metres per second across nine metres of track and with 180-degrees of rotation in 1-second, the Bolt can keep up with almost anything.

“Coming into 2023 we are fully loaded with several commercial productions, and deep in post-production for our current TV series. We’re excited for the year ahead and to make some magic with all of our amazing agencies and clients.”
