Off the back of a successful year of shows all around the world, leading event organiser Comexposium, is getting ready to welcome senior e-commerce professionals and supporting vendors for enterprise-level retailers to the iMedia Online Retail Summit New Zealand in Taupō.
Held at the stunning Hilton Lake Taupō venue from May 15-17, the exclusive invitation only summit brings together leaders in the online retail community for three days of unique networking, inspirational speakers, in an environment that fosters collaborative business opportunities.
Managing Director of Comexposium AU, NZ & SEA, Ryf Quail, says the overall aim of the event is to “bring good people together”.
“It’s a great way to bring the community together, not overwhelm them with content, but allow them to connect, meet new peers, meet new suppliers and really spend some time together to learn from each other.”
This year the programme boasts a line-up of more than 15 keynote speakers including Anders Söman-Nilsson, an internationally renowned futurist, who will kick things off as the opening speaker.
“A meticulous researcher and highly energetic,” Quail says.
On day two Professor Paul Spoonley will take the stage. Spoonley is a New Zealand sociologist at Massey University who specialises in social change and demography and how this can impact policy decisions in politics.
“We had him speak at another event of ours and the feedback was that people could sit and listen to him talk all day,” says Ryf. “He speaks on the changing demography of New Zealand and how it will affect everyone in retail.”
To close out the summit, Allison Mooney, a leading author on leadership, keynote speaker and leading authority on personality types in business
“She is the last speaker before people head off so you need someone who leaves the delegation with a message. Allison is really special and people will leave with a smile and a good feeling about themselves,” Quail says.
As well as speakers, there are opportunities for 1:1 meetings, thought leadership presentations by industry leaders as well as round table discussion and activities.
As the delegation changes each year, so too does the experience. “The format doesn’t change although we are always refining it to improve it and make the event even better and a richer experience.
“There’s only a day or so of content across the three days but you get a chance to network with peers, Whitewater raft, go out on the lake in a boat and see the Māori carvings. It’s such a beautiful backdrop for a cool group of people to gather.”
As for what he hopes people will take away from the event? “New relationships, new knowledge and new opportunities. To find peers in non-competing categories and spend time with them which creates a bit of a support network. These retailers are often isolated because they are in New Zealand, so this event helps to bring the community together.”
