Executive judges announced for 2023 Beacon Awards

The Commercial Communications Council (Comms Council) has announced the panel of executive judges for the upcoming 2023 Beacon Awards, in association with oOh!media.

These awards recognise and honour exceptional media strategy and planning. The executive judging panel for this year consists of ten industry experts, led by the Convenor, Louise Bond, a former chair of the Commercial Communications Council.

The executive judging panel will be reviewing the best media strategy papers in every category of this year’s Beacon Awards. To ensure the awards programme accurately reflects the work agencies do for their clients, the Beacon steering group reviews it annually.

This year’s review has seen the Best Use of Social and Best Use of Content categories merge, and the removal of Best Launch and Media Innovation categories. Similarly, Advertiser of the Year has been removed as it overlaps with Best in Show. Moreover, the preliminary and category judging stages have merged to boost consistency and ensure that the best work is appropriately awarded.

The panel of judges comprises of industry experts, including Bridgette Smith, Founder of Lassoo Media, Nick Vile, General Manager of oOh!media, James Davidson, GM Planning of PHD, Richard Hale, Managing Director of dentsu, Natacha Clark, Innovation and Media Manager of DB Breweries, Helen Fitzsimons, Chief Marketing Officer of ASB, Jane Stanley, CEO of Hearts & Science, Emily Isle, Chief Digital Officer of MBM, Sarah Kenny, Associate Director Marketing at University of Auckland, and Spencer Bailey, Country Director of Meta.

“The Beacon Awards shine a light on the brilliance of media strategy and planning, honouring the innovative minds that navigate the ever-evolving landscape of communication. We are thrilled to have a panel of industry experts, each bringing their unique perspective and expertise to the table. Together, they will uncover and celebrate the brightest beacons of success in our industry.” – James Wotton, Head of Events & Communications, Comms Council
