AUCKLAND, Tuesday: Wax-dipped bourbon brand Maker’s Mark has teamed up with NZ honey company Taylor Pass to bring Kiwis an exclusive experience exploring the B Corp status of both brands, developed and executed by Grey Lynn PR agency Undertow Media.
The “Sustainable Suite” at The Mezzanine (upstairs at Ben Bayly’s restaurant Origine) is an immersive pop-up that allows guests to enjoy a curated selection of Gold Rush cocktails, tailored to the preferences of each patron by Origine’s esteemed mixologist Egor Petrov.
The speakeasy-style suite seats up to six people for a handcrafted experience with sustainability at the forefront, booked free of charge for up to one hour.
Developed in partnership with Beam Suntory and The Supreme Group, the Sustainable Suite will be previewed to media and guests next week, Wednesday 31 May 31, before opening to the public from 1 June.
A modern twist on the classic whisky sour, the gold rush is crafted with Maker’s Mark bourbon and Taylor Pass honey – both certified B Corp brands that meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
Kentucky-based Rob Samuels, chief distillery officer and 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the founders at Maker’s Mark, says craftsmanship is at the core of how the distillery operates and he’s thrilled to partner with a Kiwi company that shares the same principles.

“Since 1953, my grandparents instilled a sense of responsibility that started with the way we make our bourbon and extended to the way we impact the lives of our teams, our customers, our communities and our shared environment,” he said.
“I’m excited to continue pioneering important initiatives and work with incredible collaborators like Taylor Pass to create moments for customers to be remembered.”
