AUCKLAND, Today: Tomorrow (Friday 14th), Aotearoa observes a public holday to celebrate Matariki – the Maori New Year’s Day.
The holiday marks the first rising of the Matariki star cluster, also known as Pleiades, which brings the new year in the lunar calendar.
“Most shops and licensed premises will remain open as usual.”
