Promotions and new appointments for 818

Tāmaki Makaurau-based publicity agency 818 have today announced a newly created role, a permanent appointment and two promotions across its team of PR specialists.

The boutique agency, who turn 10 this year, have delivered communications campaigns for dozens of the country’s most successful entertainment and live event projects, including the ASB Classic, Broadway hit Hamilton and Rachel House’s The Mountain film.

818’s Managing Director and Founder Chris Henry says: “I am so proud to be celebrating ten years working on the best entertainment and experience projects in the country, and even more so of the incredible team we have assembled.

“The strength of our success is down to the hard work and passion of our team and partners. These promotions and appointments are well deserved, and I believe will set us up for an epic year ahead.”

Bex Martelletti takes on the Head of Publicity role on a permanent basis, using her extensive PR, event and arts industry experience to lead the publicity team to conceive, create and deliver outstanding campaigns for 818’s clients, including Live Nation, HAYU and Laneway Festival.

Martelletti, who is lauded for her collaborative personality and ability to adapt to her clients’ needs, joined 818 in August 2022, covering a parental leave, and is thrilled to be taking on the role permanently.

Kate Jones steps into the newly created role of Key Projects and Partnership Director, responsible for strategising and executing creative campaigns for 818’s tent pole projects.

Jones, who has been with the business for more than six years, brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the role and is looking forward to delivering more world-class campaigns, building long-term partnerships with key clients and continuing to provide senior leadership within the business.

Her recent campaigns in the role include the ITM New Zealand Sail Grand Prix in Christchurch and the ASB Classic.

Cynthia Monardez has been promoted to Publicity Manager, following four years at 818, leading on high priority campaigns and helping to develop 818’s junior team.

Monardez’s promotion is testament to her dedication to deliver extraordinary campaigns that see cut-through and strong results. Monardez’s recent work includes leading campaigns for Pride Festival, Cirque du Soleil Crystal and New Zealand film Red White and Brass.

Antonia Aimer has also been promoted to Publicist, off the back of an impressive first year in the business as Social and Publicity Coordinator.

Aimer works with 818’s other Publicist Morgan Ellis to deliver campaigns such as Auckland Live, Big Fan, launching HAYU to the New Zealand market and Laneway Festival.
