TVNZ, AIA NZ, Together and NZME team up for new mental wellbeing series

AIA Vitality has partnered with TVNZ, in collaboration with AIA’s media agency Together and NZME, to launch mental wellbeing series The Upside.

In this series, host Scotty Stevenson sits down with well-known New Zealanders for an insightful and inspiring conversation about mental wellbeing.

Over six episodes, notable Kiwis including Sir Graham Henry, Jason Gunn, Dame Valerie Adams, Hayley Sproull, Detective Inspector Scott Beard and Awa Puna, will share powerful and unique stories about the struggles they’ve faced in their own lives, how they’ve overcome them, and what they do to protect their own wellbeing.

Stevenson says, “It’s been an intensely intimate and incredible experience having these open discussions with an amazing group of New Zealanders. I’m happy to help bring these very personal stories to light in our new series The Upside.”

The series was produced in partnership with AIA NZ, whose Chief Customer Officer, Angela Busby, says, “As one of New Zealand’s leading life and health insurers we understand first-hand the importance of mental wellness for overall health and wellbeing.

“Through The Upside we hope to encourage open conversations about mental wellbeing, to normalise day-to-day struggles, and to highlight that Kiwis from all walks of life can go through tough times – and find the upside again.”

The Upside will screen weekly from Sunday 14 April at 2pm on TVNZ 1, while all episodes are available on TVNZ+ from Sunday.

A companion podcast featuring extended interviews will also launch across all podcast players distributed by the NZME Podcast Network on Sunday 14 April.

TVNZ’s GM of Blacksand & Partnerships, Aaron Dawson, says “We’re pleased to partner with AIA on this series. These are important stories to tell, and we’ve loved working alongside AIA and Together to share these with Aotearoa.”
