In a world where nearly everyone is always online, there is no offline.

Lucy Sparks appointed FCB’s business development director

After providing consultation to FCB’s newly formed leadership team in 2023, Lucy Sparks has now permanently joined the team as Business Development Director.

In her role, Sparks will work closely with FCB Aotearoa’s Auckland CEO Paul Wilson and Wellington CEO Sean Keaney, to drive thoughtful, sustainable growth for FCB, its people, and its clients across the agency’s entire suite of capabilities.

With a rich background in client service, brand strategy and business development in creative agencies across New Zealand, Sparks has a proven track record of driving growth and fostering collaboration.

In her most recent agency role, Sparks served as a Business Development Director for Publicis Groupe in New Zealand, where she led the growth strategy following the acquisition of MBM and Digitas.

Before joining FCB, Sparks spent 18 months scaling Sydney-based start-up Offline, a professional development community with a focus on regenerative business strategy. Within this role she also provided brand and business development strategy to a number of emerging entrepreneurs and early stage founders.

Of the appointment Auckland CEO, Paul Wilson says, “I’m thrilled to have Lucy join the FCB whānau, she is a class act and wonderful human. She has a fantastic breadth of experience and seeing her immediate impact on the agency and our clients makes me excited for the future.”

“Not only is Lucy driven, passionate and organised she also brings a deep sense of social and cultural thoughtfulness when it comes to our people and the industry which I’m also stoked about” says Sean Keaney, CEO of FCB Wellington.

Of the role, Sparks says, “When some of your all-time favourite colleagues reassemble at an agency whose creative and cultural legacy you’ve always had an eye on, it’s hard to say no to joining them.

“FCB’s integrated offering is truly best in class. They’ve been humbly and consistently delivering incredible success to clients across the entire marketing ecosystem for years. The case for integration in driving better outcomes for clients and their customers is clear, and FCB has been doing for a long time what many networks are trying to recreate – all key disciplines, under one roof, working together to solve clients’ business challenges from a holistic, connected view.

“What I’ve learnt is that integration isn’t a destination you arrive at; it’s a culture and a set of behaviours that requires consistent nurturing, a strong foundation of trust and a willingness to try new ways of organizing ourselves around the individual needs of our clients’ businesses. I am really looking forward to being part of this next stage of FCB Aotearoa’s story and continuing to innovate around our client’s evolving needs.”
