AUCKLAND, Yesterday: Thompson Spencer, one of New Zealand’s top wāhine-led agencies, is now one of two finalists for IAB’s highly coveted Grand Award: Creative Agency of the Year.
Co-Founder and CEO, Melanie Spencer, said, “We’re known for flipping the model and often say that we might be little in the category we’re punching in, but we absolutely hold our own against the heavyweights, and then some. And now here we are – in the ring with just DDB, one of the biggest heavyweights there is.”

In just four years, Thompson Spencer has grown from 12 to 35 team members, acquiring businesses and targeting strategic hires to support its expanding client base. Last year, they consolidated their services under one unified Thompson Spencer brand at their Lorne St office, creating a powerful presence in the industry.
They’re also finalists for the IAB’s Channel Excellence Award for Best Use of Social, which aligns with their commitment to being a social-first agency and their belief in the power of community.
The winners will be revealed at the IAB Awards Show on November 21st.
