Sky is celebrating its leader Sophie Moloney winning Chief Executive of the Year at the Deloitte Top 200 Awards.
The media company says this award recognises her exceptional leadership, vision and commitment to the business and its people.
Moloney has led a strong year for Sky NZ, with the company winning Sales Team of the Year at the Comms Council’s 2025 Beacon Awards and gold for Digital Sales Excellence (Team) at the IAB Awards.
Despite a tough year for the media industry, Sky strengthened its market position by acquiring Discovery NZ from Warner Bros. Discovery. Moloney commented on the deal, saying at the time: “This is a compelling opportunity for Sky that directly supports our ambition to be Aotearoa New Zealand’s most engaging and essential media company. It positions us to scale faster, accelerates our growth and diversifies our revenue streams, particularly in advertising and digital.”

The momentum continued in Q4 with Sky extending its digital advertising offering via Sky Go. The launch expands its digital reach, enabling advertisers to connect with Sky’s extensive and premium audience.
In sports news, Sky launched 4K Ultra High Definition sports coverage and it also secured New Zealand broadcast rights for both the 2026 Rugby League World Cup and the Olympic Games. “We’re absolutely thrilled to continue our long-term partnership with the International Olympic Committee and to be the home of the Olympic Games in New Zealand through to Brisbane 2032,” says Moloney.
