2022 TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards shines spotlight on industry successes

Following a spectacular night of celebration and putting marketing excellence centre stage at the TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards, NZ Marketing magazine and NZ Marketing Association, are delighted to announce the winners for 2022.

On Wednesday night, the industry’s best and brightest gathered at Spark Arena in Auckland to recognise the successes of some outstanding marketing initiatives.

NZ Marketing magazine, in partnership with the Marketing Association, presented awards in 28 categories across excellence, short-term marketing and individual categories.

With the Awards now in its 31st year, this event delivered on its promise to be bigger and better than ever before.

David Nothling-Demmer, Editor of NZ Marketing said it was fantastic to bring the industry together and put marketing excellence centre stage. “Congratulations to all the winners. Thank you to our judges and amazing sponsors for making these awards the celebration they are.”

John Miles, Marketing Association CEO added: “Having over 920 people, the largest ever awards night by 25 percent, pack in Spark Arena was simply awesome. This grand night commenced in style with MA member Sophie Morris from NZ Opera delivering a stunning version of O Mio Babbino and this set the scene for a fabulous night.”

Taking home the Supreme Award as well as Excellence in Brand Transformation Strategy and Excellence in Consumer Products & Services Strategy, was the Turners Group NZ team who won the hearts of the judges and the New Zealand public alike with the loveable ‘Tina from Turners’ character.

The judges said Turners “delivered an outstanding marketing strategy that touched every aspect of the Turners business and delivered a truly significant transformation” and the brand “aligned to the strategy throughout the customer experience and became a key part of the organisations DNA”.

With the addition of new categories – including those focused on short-term marketing outcomes – marketers had more opportunity than ever to enter their innovative works and individuals.

This included Marketing Team of the Year which was awarded to Mitre 10 for consistently rolling out inspirational campaigns, content and customer experiences, unhindered by pandemic challenges.

Of this win, the judges said all the finalists in this category delivered exceptional results and amazing outcomes, but this entry stood out as a winner because of how the team worked with the entire company to deliver the brand promise.

“You showed true cooperative spirit in its finest form. We really enjoyed the entry as judges because of the way your team worked together. They were disciplined, hardworking, very collaborative but also knew how to have fun. Congratulations!

“You delivered exceptional business results with a clear and compelling ROI in amongst a high calibre of entries yours was a real stand out.”

Other big winners on the night were Sarah Sandoval, General Manager of Consumer Marketing and Brand at NZ Post and Madeline Youngman of MONDAY Haircare who took home the Marketer and Up-&-Coming Marketer of the Year Awards respectively.

The night also recognised marketing legend, Kevin Kenrick who was inducted into the Marketing Hall of Fame for his leadership through great transformation at TVNZ.

The 2022 TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards were once again proudly brought to you by Premier Sponsor TVNZ, and supported by Category Sponsors oOh!media, Stuff, NZME, The Radio Bureau, ThinkTV, One Picture, REACH, Cartology, Are Media and SCG.
