AUCKLAND, Today: Outdoor giant JCDecaux has joined forces with design studio Haumi to display Māori cultural stories on its nationwide billboards, according to a report by Daniel Dunkley in online NZME paysite BusinessDesk.
JCD and Māori creative design firm have teamed up to launch Pae Ātea, a project to showcase New Zealand’s indigenous art, culture and heritage to a mass audience on billboards throughout the country.
“JCD will gift Haumi outdoor media space for at least two years and contribute towards half of the costs of putting together the displays.”

Dunkley writes: “Pae Ātea produced its first billboard during Matariki in June.
“It has since rolled out an outdoor display in Auckland with Ngati Whatua, which will tell the story of chief Apihai Te Kawau’s allocation of land to the Crown, ahead of the 182nd anniversary of Auckland’s foundation as a city.”
