Makers Mark and Taylor Pass honey launch ‘Sustainable Suite’ experience via Undertow Media

Maker’s Mark, a bourbon brand known for its wax-dipped bottles, has joined forces with Taylor Pass, a local honey company, to offer New Zealanders a unique opportunity to delve into the shared B Corp status of both companies.

Origine, the restaurant owned by Ben Bayly, is hosting an enchanting pop-up experience called the “Sustainable Suite” located on The Mezzanine.

This immersive setting invites guests to indulge in a carefully crafted collection of “Gold Rush” cocktails, tailored to suit the individual preferences of each patron by the esteemed mixologist of Origine, Egor Petrov.

Developed and executed by Undertow Media, in partnership with Beam Suntory and The Supreme Group, the “Sustainable Suite” will be previewed to media and guests on May 31st before opening to the public from June 1st.

The speakeasy style suite seats up to six people for a handcrafted experience with sustainability at the forefront, booked free of charge for up to one hour.

A modern twist on the classic whisky sour, the Gold Rush is crafted with Maker’s Mark bourbon and Taylor Pass honey – both certified B Corp brands that meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. 

Maker’s Mark is the largest distillery in the world to earn the certification and the first in Kentucky’s famed Bourbon Country, while Taylor Pass is one of only four New Zealand honey brands to achieve the distinction.

Rob Samuels, Chief Distillery Officer, eighth generation whisky maker, and grandson of the founders at Maker’s Mark, says craftsmanship is at the core of how the distillery operates and he’s thrilled to partner with a Kiwi company that shares the same principles.

“Since 1953, my grandparents instilled a sense of responsibility that started with the way we make our bourbon and extended to the way we impact the lives of our teams, our customers, our communities and our shared environment,” Samuels says.

“I’m excited to continue pioneering important initiatives and work with incredible collaborators like Taylor Pass to create moments for customers to be remembered.”

Long regarded for purity, authenticity and fully traceable origins, Taylor Pass has hives in Marlborough, Central Otago and South Westland and produces eight varietals of honey including the Beech Honeydew used in the Gold Rush cocktail.
