PARIS, Today: Despite the influence of M+AD Daily ed David Gapes on the Epica Awards jury roster, NZ failed big time at last night’s awards presentation. Just one Kiwi agency – Newton-based Motion Sickness – made it through to the shortlist.
Australia did even worse – with one finalist (Finch). This year Epica received 1980 entries from 59 countries; the highest number came from Russia and Germany.
Motion Sickness is through with two entries (for the same campaign) on the shortlist – Keep It Real Online, produced for the NZ Department of Internal Affairs – in Social and Humour.
“Australia did even worse – with just one finalist (Finch).”
The finalists will go through to the next round of voting, which takes place online until this Tuesday 8 December. Gold and Grand Prix winners will be screened during a special online ceremony on December 17.
The eventual winners and a selection of high-scoring entries will be featured in the annual Epica Book, which will be released in September 2021.
Epica is the only global creative ad awards show that’s judged by journalists.
