In a world where nearly everyone is always online, there is no offline.

Kami appoints The Ogilvy Network and Wavemaker

Kiwi education success story Kami, and the world’s number one digital classroom platform, has appointed the Ogilvy Network (Ogilvy New Zealand and Designworks) to be its global creative agency and brand strategy partners and Wavemaker to be its global Media agency.

The WPP win will cover brand strategy, story and identity, communications strategy, and campaign creative, media strategy and implementation.

Kami’s digital platform fosters flexible and collaborative learning for millions of teachers and students around the globe. The company, founded in 2013 by three Auckland University students and featured on Forbes Asia 100 to Watch list, has more than 32 million users in 180 countries.

Kami’s VP of Marketing Louis Esther says: “We’re thrilled to be heading into 2022 with a new partnership across brand and media. The combined offering from WPP and the talented teams at Designworks, Ogilvy, and Wavemaker ticked all the boxes when it came to what we were looking for as we embark on our exciting next phase of growth.

“Kami’s global ambitions aren’t slowing down any time soon. With 1.5 billion kids out there, we’re only scratching the surface with 32 million. We want Kami to be seen as the universal platform for teachers and students of any age, ability, or background, and we can’t wait to continue transforming classrooms worldwide with the combined strength of the Ogilvy Network now alongside us.”

Ogilvy Managing Partner Megan Clark Cook says: “Kami is an amazing digital learning platform that empowers people to love learning. Here at Ogilvy, we’re all about empowering brands to achieve their full growth potential. This, along with their huge ambition and great culture, is a great fit with Ogilvy and we can’t wait to get started.”

Wavemaker Managing Director Grant Anderson says: “Kami is an inspiring company that is already delivering amazing results.  We look forward to provoking further growth for Kami tapping into our tremendous data and technology capabilities.  At Wavemaker, we are driven by a desire to Grow Fearless – a sentiment that perfectly sums up Kami’s approach and ambition.  We are excited to get to work on this global partnership.”

Designworks Managing Partner Amanda Sommerville says: “We’re excited to be working alongside the talented Kami team and helping them develop the brand to become a household name all around the world as they deliver positive learning journeys for millions of people.”

Kami was the fastest-growing company in New Zealand last year in the Deloitte Fast 50 index. During the first wave of the pandemic, the company offered its software globally to teachers free of charge to help them continue to teach their students online while much of the world was in lockdown. Subsequently, many of the users became paid subscribers. Kami is and always will be free for all schools in New Zealand.

The cloud-based app has also saved educators millions of dollars in printing costs, and helped free up teaching time as a result.
