Comms Council elects Rufus Chuter as new Media Committee Chair

Rufus Chuter, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of media agency Together, has been newly elected as the Chair of the Media Committee by the Commercial Communications Council (Comms Council).

Simon Lendrum, CEO of the Comms Council says the Council is “incredibly grateful” to former Media Committee chair Rachel Anderson-Cormack for the stewardship she has provided and for Chuter taking over the reigns.

“It’s great to have Rufus, who is universally respected and admired, taking on the challenge. It’s never a dull moment in media and we’ve got plenty to do to ensure the ongoing prosperity of media agencies in Aotearoa,” he says.

Chuter has worked in the media and advertising industry for over 20 years in both the UK and New Zealand. Starting out on the McCann Erickson graduate scheme in London, Chuter has held various leadership and strategy roles within integrated and global media agencies including Starcom, MEC and FCB before founding Together in 2018.

He has worked with many of the biggest brands in New Zealand and the UK and his work has been recognised at every major local and international media award show including Beacons, Effies, Cannes Lions and Festival of Media.

Chuter has served on the Media Committee twice, first while Managing Director of FCB Media and currently as Managing Partner of Together.

“It’s an honour to be taking over the reins from Rachel,” Chuter says. “On behalf of the Committee, I’d like to thank her for her outstanding leadership during a period of significant change for our industry. The difference that media agencies make has never been more important, so I’m really excited to be helping navigate the way forward with such a strong and committed Media Committee.”
