Kiwibank launches new podcast series featuring inspiring NZers

Kiwibank has launched a new podcast platform, ‘This Is Kiwi’, which shares knowledge and tools for New Zealanders to lead better lives.

‘This Is Kiwi’ will be a six-part podcast series in collaboration with The Spinoff Podcast Network, where host Jane Yee interviews some of New Zealand’s most recognisable change-makers and future thinkers. Listeners can expect to gain practical knowledge and inspiration from incredible guests who have achieved remarkable things. Each episode will uncover what makes them tick as well as the influences and actions that have helped to shape their ideas.

“Our purpose as a bank is to make Kiwi better off, and this new podcast series perfectly aligns with our commitment to demonstrating and sharing ‘Kia Mārama’ or ‘Know-how’,” says Simon Hofmann, GM Brand & Marketing at Kiwibank.

“Through the This is Kiwi podcast, we will showcase some of the incredible Kiwi leaders who are having a real impact within our country helping to democratise access to knowledge and leave listeners inspired. We believe that by sharing their stories and expertise we can provide valuable insights and help other Kiwi on their own personal journey to success,” he says.

The launch of the This is Kiwi podcast reinforces Kiwibank’s ambition to further connect with its customers, communities, and Aotearoa by providing a platform for valuable knowledge-sharing. It aligns with the bank’s overarching goal of making a positive impact on the lives of New Zealanders.

“I just thought people that had made it had woken up one day with a great idea and got stuck into it and made it happen – but that’s not how it happened for us,” says Simran Kaur, Founder of Girls that Invest.

“It was the little increments, the little changes and the little desire to get better every day which is what built what we have now. It’s been amazing to be involved in this Kiwibank project giving Kiwi tangible tips for how to look at their world or finances differently,” she says.

The This is Kiwi podcast interviewees include:

  • Dave Letele, founder of Brown Buttabean Motivation and the Kiwibank Local Hero of the Year 2023
  • Simran Kaur, financial security advocate and founder of Girls That Invest
  • Dr Rangi Mātāmua, Māori cultural astronomy professor and New Zealander of the Year 2023
  • Dr Ellen Joan Nelson, advocate for worker well-being and the Kiwibank Local Hero of the Year 2023
  • Robbie Van Dam, co-founder of Goodnature and New Zealander of the Year Spark Innovator Finalist 2023
  • Kiri Nathan, Leading NZ Fashion Designer and one of the designers behind the new Kiwibank wardrobe

The ‘This is Kiwi’ podcast and campaign materials have been developed for Kiwibank by Special Group, in collaboration with The Spinoff Podcast Network with OMD leading media strategy and planning. The first episode of This is Kiwi is now available for streaming on major podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.

The integrated campaign is rolling out via digital audio, out of home, online film, social and PR.
