AUCKLAND, Tuesday: Go Media will continue to provide advertising on all Metlink buses, trains, and station platforms, after winning the service contract for up to seven years.
“We’ve had an excellent working relationship with Go Media over the last five years,” said Metlink Group manager Samantha Gain. “Our advertising revenue has more than doubled since the partnership began.
“It was a competitive tender. We were the incumbent and have retained it.
“Through the tendering process, Go Media demonstrated a clear vision of what we can achieve for Greater Wellington ratepayers and Metlink passengers by helping to keep public transport affordable.”
Go Media Managing Director Mike Gray said: “I’m super proud of the team and what we’ve accomplished for Metlink, Greater Wellington and the ratepaying public over the last five years. We look forward to building on that success.”
“We feel like we’ve only just started,” said Go Media General Manager Simon Teagle, who has overseen the Metlink account since its inception.”
“Go Media’s support for the community helped it win the contract.”
Go Media’s teamwork and speed were impressive when rolling out digital advertising in Metlink train stations, said Metlink manager Tim Shackleton.
“Through an integrated project approach, we were able to install foundations and underground power cables for both the advertising screens and our Snapper card readers at the same time,” he said.
“We only had to dig once, which was a brilliant outcome for ratepayers as we shared the cost with Go Media.”
The new Metlink account manager, Catherine Jones, who recently joined Go Media after working in public transport management, said: “We’ve collaborated with Metlink to develop new products, including some New Zealand firsts like internal train bulkhead advertising.
“Innovation has been the hallmark of our partnership with Metlink and we’ll continue to develop new ways to connect with Wellington communities while generating revenue to support public transport.”
Gain said: “Go Media’s support for the community helped it win the contract.
“What appeals to us is how Go Media contributes to sports, arts, and charities; they understand what it means to be part of the community. Together, we will also use our media assets to inspire, promote, and build awareness of what makes the Wellington region a great place to live.”
