Readership surge for Are Media titles

AUCKLAND, Wednesday: Are Media New Zealand has claimed another jump in readership in the latest Nielsen Q3 2023 release. Leading the way is The Australian Women’s Weekly NZ edition, now read by 477,000 people each month.

Are Media GM Stuart Dick said: “Close behind, Kia Ora experienced the largest jump of any magazine or newspaper in New Zealand with 414,000 readers, up 54% YoY, making these two titles number one and two on the list of most-read monthly magazines in New Zealand.

“The weekly market saw strong gains as well, with Woman’s Day jumping to No 2 spot for most-read weekly magazine with 373,000 readers each issue.

New Zealand Woman’s Weekly continues holding its number one spot with 459,000 readers every single week.


“Kia Ora experienced the largest jump of any magazine or newspaper in New Zealand.”


“Particularly pleasing is the strength in reaching the key primary household shopper demographic with Woman’s Day, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly and The Australian Women’s Weekly NZ Edition now read by a combined 790,000 primary household shoppers in New Zealand.

Are Media Neilsen Q3 Readership highlights include:

  • A cumulative 118,000 readers added across the portfolio since Q4 2022 to now reach a combined 2,024,000 readers.
  • Kia Ora experienced the highest readership increase of any magazine or newspaper.
  • Are Media NZ holds the number one and number two positions in both the monthly and weekly magazine categories.
