oOh!media and Urban Art bring Auckland Art Gallery exhibition to Commercial Bay

AUCKLAND, Friday: oOh!media and Urban Art Foundation have come together with Auckland Art Gallery to showcase its latest exhibition Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison, now being displayed in Commercial Bay in Auckland’s CBD.

Nick Vile, oOh!media GM, highlights their partnership with Urban Art Foundation, bringing art to NZ’s public spaces. They expanded the Commercial Bay network with 20 screens, featuring Gothic Returns from Auckland Art Gallery and showcasing new panel capabilities.

Fuseli to Fomison which is now on display at Commercial Bay in Auckland’s CBD. This is Urban Art Foundation and oOh!media’s seventh year of partnership, working together to bring art to urban spaces around Aotearoa.

This will be the second time Urban Art Foundation and oOh!media have partnered with Auckland Art Gallery to highlight a major exhibition. Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison explores the persistent appeal of ‘the gothic’. A broad term that embraces some of the most darkly charismatic imagery ever produced.

“We are very proud of the ongoing partnership we have with Urban Art Foundation, bringing art to public spaces around New Zealand. We launched the latest extension to our retail advertising network at Commercial Bay in November last year, with 20 state of art digital screens dotted around the precinct.

“Thanks to oOh!media, New Zealand art is seen by millions every month”

“The dynamic of the audience at Commercial Bay presents a fantastic opportunity to profile the Auckland Art Gallery and to showcase Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison, but also an innovative way to utilise our new advertising panels and demonstrate their capabilities.”

Andrew Hagen, creative director of the Urban Art Foundation said: “Over the past seven years, we have worked closely with oOh!media to make New Zealand art more accessible to everyone.

“Our unique partnership brings art out of the galleries and onto contemporary, easily  iewable digital media, not only as a source of enjoyment and education but also to benefit those who may otherwise not be able to see art due to their location or financial situation.

“Thanks to oOh!media, New Zealand art is seen by millions every month, with Aotearoa continuing to be the only country in the world to present artworks in this manner, permanently.”

Selected works from Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison can be viewed on the oOh!media retail network at Commercial Bay throughout January, and will then be rolled out across New Zealand during February.

Gothic Returns is one of eight free to view collections at the Auckland Art gallery and is open every day from 10am to 5pm until January 2025.
