AUCKLAND, Today: Spotify Australia & New Zealand just launched its first Aotearoa Music Global Impact List. It highlights the Top 30 tracks from Kiwi artists making waves globally on Spotify in early 2023.
The list is based on global streams, excluding those from New Zealand. Check out the full in the graphic below.
Leading the list is Somebody 2024, a remix of Kimbra and Gotye’s 2011 hit, revamped by Chris Lake, FISHER, and Sante Sansone.
Lorde secures both second and third spots with ‘The girl, so confusing version with Lorde’ and her cover of Take Me to the River.
“The New Zealand music industry is now bigger than it ever has been, thanks to streaming.” – Leah Harris
Singer-songwriter Shirley Seita teams up with Mitraz for ‘Khileya’ at #4. Rapper SXMPRA’s collab FULL EFFECT hits #10.
SXMPRA and reggae act L.A.B. each have two entries. Dark pop artist Vana appears three times, and producer 9Lives tops the list with four tracks.
Leah Harris, Spotify ANZ Artist & Label Partnership Lead, said: “The New Zealand music industry is now bigger than it ever has been, thanks to streaming. In an age of an emerging borderless music industry, this list is a fantastic snapshot of local artists having a big impact on the world stage and comes as New Zealand looks to become a net exporter of music!”
