AUCKLAND, Today: Bastion is ramping up its presence in New Zealand by acquiring Catch Design, a leading digital experience agency. Catch will join Bastion this month, boosting its digital capabilities.
This acquisition fits perfectly with Bastion’s growth strategy in New Zealand and Australia. It brings expertise in customer experience, experience design, marketing technologies, CRM, and product development.
Catch Design, founded in Wellington in 2005 by Hamish Stevenson, started as a digital experience studio. Over the years, it’s grown into a full-service digital agency with 25 specialists.
Stevenson says the partnership offers new opportunities. “We’ve long held big ambitions to grow and broaden our services and have been looking for the right partner to help us achieve that.
“We’re excited about the prospect of working with more of New Zealand’s leading businesses and brands to transform their digital experience.”

Bastion Shine CEO Toby Sellers believes this acquisition will bolster their digital offering and help meet a broader range of client needs.
“Catch has an excellent track record delivering market-leading digital solutions for some of New Zealand’s largest businesses. Our new partnership will ensure Bastion Shine can further unlock our clients’ digital ambitions to achieve greater growth and customer engagement.”
Catch’s portfolio includes major brands like 2degrees, Mercury, Burger King, One NZ, and more.
The Catch Design and Bastion Shine Digital team will now be part of the larger Bastion ANZ group, working on Digital Customer and Technology Experience, and Digital Transformation under Managing Director Tim den Braber.
Bastion ANZ CEO Cheuk Chiang says this partnership is a huge step forward. “At Bastion, we believe in not only providing wide end-to-end capabilities for our clients, but also deep expertise.
“Our digital services ecosystem is able to help clients leverage specialisations in digital advisory, data and analytics, tech automation and best-in-class activation to drive growth and realise customer and business value.”
