Are Media NZ readership up again – Nielsen

Are Media New Zealand is reporting further growth in readership across its portfolio. This follows the release of Nielsen’s Q2 2025 figures.

The results show the media company is now reaching 1,912,000 readers – an increase of 22,000 readers, says Are Media.

This result comes on top of the previous quarter’s growth of +3%. Are Media is now positioned as New Zealand’s leading and largest lifestyle publisher.

Are Media also retained the crowns for most-read weekly title held by NZ Woman’s Weekly, and most-read monthly title held by Kia Ora.

Highlights within the portfolio were driven by the women’s titles including:

  • NZ Woman’s Weekly + 3% to 431,000 readers per issue
  • Woman’s Day +3% to 342,000 readers per issue
  • The Australian Women’s Weekly NZ Edition +3% to 356,000 readers per issue

Are Media’s women’s titles now have a combined readership of 1,129,000 readers. This included one-third of all primary household shoppers in New Zealand and over 40% of women aged 20+.

Digital reach triples with new partnership

Are Media’s digital reach also expanded significantly in Q2, with total reach among New Zealand audiences now exceeding 1.5 million unique visitors per month.

This has been achieved through the organic growth of Are Media platforms, including nzwomansweeklyfood.co.nz, womansday.co.nz, yourhomeandgarden.co.nz, and listener.co.nz, and via Are Media’s new partnership with global publishing giant People Inc.

The partnership offers advertisers access to New Zealand audiences viewing brands such as people.com, allrecipes.com and more.

Are Media NZ GM Stuart Dick adds: “This is another great result for our print readership, and combined with the significant growth we’ve achieved across digital ensures we can continue to provide advertisers withh highly engaged audiences in key lifestyle verticals at scale.”

Nielsen and Roy Morgan collect the readership and audience measurement figures most often quoted for media in Aotearoa New Zealand.
