CANNES, Today: Next year’s Cannes Lions are undergoing a refresh, including change, and preparing to introduce the industry to a new category – the Entertainment Lions for Gaming.
A Cannes spokesperson said: “Lion-winning work that has featured gaming has risen by 74% in the last five years – so we’re proud to recognise this.
“This new category is being introduced at a time when the gaming industry is truly reaching new heights.”
Celebrating creative work that connects people to brands through gameplay, the new Lion will be judged and awarded for the first time in June 2023 – with Francine Li, global head of marketing at LA game esports tournament outfit, Riot Games, serving as the inaugural jury president.
“This new category is being introduced at a time when the gaming industry truly is reaching new heights,” she said.
