AUCKLAND, Today: On Saturday, November 7th, the Media Design School in Auckland CBD will host the inaugural NZ Web Fest, aligning with over 40 Web Fests worldwide. Unique to New Zealand’s edition is the inclusion of YouTube talent and discussions on monetizing web video content for creators, catering to platforms seeking original content for their subscribers.

This one-day event features world premieres of locally crafted web series, including titles like “End of Term” and “AFK.” Speakers, such as internet sensation Jamie Curry of Jamie’s World and Shaaanxo, will grace the event.

Event organizer Fiona Powell highlights New Zealand’s leadership in digital content, with web series like High Road currently leading the Web Series World Cup. Notable YouTube talents Jamie Curry and Shaaanxo have amassed a global following.

The NZ Web Fest #NZWF2015 announces nominees across four award categories, with some already winning accolades at international web festivals. Creators of notable web series, including Nothing Much To Do, Flat 3, and The Adventures of Suzy Boon, will present at the fest.

Nominees for the Best Web Show category include magazine shows like Hahana and NZ Off Air, short-form documentary Human Postcards, documentary If These Walls Could Talk,” and satirical political vlog White Man Behind A Desk.

YouTube sensation Jamie Curry is not only a speaker but also nominated for the Best YouTube Channel Award, alongside other popular channels like Azz Man, Ela Gale, and Shaaanxo.

The One To Watch award nominees feature YouTube vloggers Corey Lupton, Sally Jo, Sam’s Life, Scurb, and The Sheep That Went Moo (Ollie Langdon).

Distinguished judges for the NZ Web Fest include International Digital Emmy Award winners David Stubbs and Thomas Robins, along with Robbie Spargo, Content Strategist for Shorts at TVNZ, and Karl Puschmann, a pop culture writer and blogger for the New Zealand Herald.

The awards presentation, hosted by actress JJ Fong, will conclude the NZ Web Fest on November 7th. Actress JJ Fong Go Girls, Step Dave and upcoming web series AFK will MC the awards.
